What Vaccinations Are Required for Daycare + Boarding đź’‰

At Pawsome Park & Lodge, your dog’s health and safety are our top priorities. One of the most important steps in keeping our facility safe and stress-free is making sure every pup is up to date on their vaccinations before joining us for daycare or boarding.

Rabies - Rabies is a serious viral disease that affects the nervous system and can even be passed to people. Since dogs are part of the family, keeping them protected also means keeping the whole household safe.

DHLPP - This “combo shot” is often called the distemper vaccine, but it actually protects against several serious illnesses. Distemper affects a dog’s respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems. Hepatitis can damage vital organs such as liver and kidneys. Leptospirosis spreads through water or soil and can even affect people. Parainfluenza, which spreads quickly in group settings, can cause coughing and fever. Finally, Parvovirus is highly contagious and especially dangerous for puppies, sometimes even life-threatening. By keeping your dog up to date on DHLPP, you’re helping make sure group play stays safe and worry-free for everyone.

Bordetella - Bordetella is one of the main causes of kennel cough, a highly contagious respiratory infection that affects the airways. It spreads quickly anywhere dogs gather, especially in group settings like boarding or daycare. Symptoms can include coughing, sneezing, and loss of energy, not something you’d want your pup bringing home after a fun day. By vaccinating against Bordetella, you’re helping keep your dog (and their new friends) healthy enough for playtime.

Fecal Test - A fecal test helps ensure that every dog in our care is free from intestinal parasites that can spread easily in group settings. Parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and giardia can cause digestive upset, weight loss, and other health issues. To keep all dogs safe and healthy, we require proof of a negative fecal test from your veterinarian completed within the past 6-12 months. Keeping this test current helps us maintain a clean, healthy environment where every pup can play and relax worry-free.
